09.08Quarantine, the movie
Holy Crap… I wasn’t expecting much from this movie especially based on the stupid movie poster but thank christ for Netflix and the free streaming. Were it not for my Netflix account and for my occasional perusal of the “New Arrivals” streaming area I would have never known about this movie. I was looking for a horror and I’m always down for a zombie movie and that’s the only thing I saw when I fired this up in the background while I did some work. As soon as it started I realized that was in store for something I wasn’t really prepared for… it ended up as a Blair Witch meets 28 Days Later meets Cloverfield meets The Descent.
My first impression after seeing the movie poster and firing it up was that I was going to be disappointed along with the 90% of the restof the horror movies I’ve found on Netflix. Thank christ this movie actually delivered something. First, it starred that dream boat Jay Hernandez who most might know as Paxton from Hostel. He’s is probably he most mainstream actor in this film but the film makers as well as the rest of the cast don’t fail to deliver and solid movie. The gore and horror mixed gloriously and when you combine the shock with the ”raw” filmaking style you end up with a movie that leaves you very satisified.
Give this movie a chance, it’s budget wasn’t much for hollywood standards and it was a remake of a French film but the last chapter really creeped me out as well as scared the shit out of me and there aren’t many movies that have done that recently. You may find some parts hokey but overall it definately delivers.
